Hwange National Park Airport

Hwange National Park Airport was opened in 1971 after the completion of its construction, which had started in 1969. The airport serves as a gateway into Hwange National Park, the largest National Park in Zimbabwe and home to the Big Five (5) namely; Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino and numerous other animal and bird species.

 

 

The airport is located 80 km away from Hwange town and 180 km from Victoria Falls town.

 

Facilities and Services

 

  • Runway is 4,600 meters long and 30 meters wide and has a capacity to handle a Boeing 737-200 aircraft or equivalent.
  • The passenger terminal building has a capacity of handling up to 250 passengers per peak hour.
  • Air traffic control services are available from Monday to Friday between 0800 and 1630 hours, during weekend, aircraft may land or take off using unmanned airport procedures.
  • We have fire and rescue services with firefighting equipment classified under Category 5
  • Meteorological services available everyday between between 6  am to 5pm
